actor John Malkovich will direct the staging of Good Canary in the Insurgents Theatre, which will be produced and led by Diego Luna, who
will take Irene Azuela and Daniel Giménez Cacho as partners of the
adventure.
Giménez Cacho added that it would be released in
November… “It’s a peculiar play about a writer and I am one of the
publishers. It is about the time she becomes famous and things that were
not known are discovered. The subject-matter is about addictions,
anorexia and public image,” underlined the actor.
Good Canary, originally by Zach Helm, is the
second play directed by Malkovich. It was already released in Paris last year, but the actor had the illusion of releasing it in Mexico
after meeting Diego Luna.
“Malkovich already knew me from Spain, when he was
directing a movie with Javier Bardem and I was living there. Actually,
Diego Luna was the one that invited me. He presented me with John and
said to him ‘he is going to be in the play’ and John just said ‘ah, very
well, very well’,” told Giménez Cacho.
