Mexican Actor Diego Luna said today that in his country it is difficult for an actor or producer to live on their income in cinema. For that reason they must alternate with other work to be able to survive. In statements to the press on the occasion of the 21st Film Festival in the Mexican city of Guadalajara, Luna emphasized that the view of the national artists is sad.

“A lot of people that work in this cannot live from cinema and have to look for other jobs to have a better income,” declared the actor. He added that “the cinema is not going to pay well as long as it does not have the business for those who do it, for those who risk their money from the beginning.”

According to Luna, “the people that risk money in a project are the slowest in receiving compensation.  A producer does not see money up until the last moment, if he receives it, and the big successes do not guarantee that this producer will do another movie again.”

Nevertheless, he indicated he can be considered among the few actors that can give themselves the luxury of living off acting and attributed this fact to the “constant work and luck” he's has had.
