Diego presented on Los Premios MTV Latinoamerica in Mexico City, otherwise knows as the Latin Video Music Awards. This is what Diego had to say:

“Wow, it’s cool to be here. Good evening, everybody. We’re here to celebrate that MTV finally understood that Miami isn’t in Latin America. How wonderful that they returned to Mexico. Welcome to our city. I should say that they come at a great moment. A moment of peace, of national unity, of institutions, a place where human rights have never been violated. This is your home. Come visit us more often. Welcome to the chaos of Mexico City. Enjoy the people who are more on fire than anyone in the world. The most amazing, fucking coolest people in the world. I just want to remind you, MTV, that your visa expires tomorrow and you have to return, and a charter waits for you to jump over the wall so you can return to Miami. And you still haven't been to Caracas, Lima, Bogota, many great cities. But we’re here to party. To celebrate the novelty that you’ve come here and a new award that’s celebrated for the first time. One of the most important prizes of the night, the song of the year. Here are the international nominees: James Blunt, Julieta Venegas, Madonna, Maná, and Shakira......   Okay, okay, and the song of the year, you know you want to say it, or shall I say it? The song of the year is … SHAKIRA!!”

When Shakira took the MTV award from Diego, she told him how much she liked his movie Nicotina.
