Gael and Diego do it
again After the success that brought them to work together at the Ambulante 2006 documentary tour, the dynamic duo Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna return to take the new stage of the cinematographic walker to more than ten cities of Mexico. This way, two years of having initiated the project they come with a mature vision, the recognition of the public, and especially with this impetus of supporting another face of cinema, “documentaries”, that up to today continue without showing themselves in commercial rooms (theatres). “We are very pleased that it was possible to have fulfilled one more edition of Ambulant 2007. Last year many wise decisions arose, few errors but, in general we had a good reception,” pointed out Gael in a press conference offered in Mexico City. Contentious of the scarce support that is given to the documentaries, Gael and Diego have given to the task of showing this "different cinema" that little by little is capturing looks and leaving more demanding spectators. “Ambulante survived and very well, in a healthy way and it grew very much last year. We must remember that Ambulante was born for the need that we had for a movie of a very good friend, Eugenio Postovsky. It was seen and also for the need to offer a cinema that has many obstacles to come to the commercial rooms and thus supply a different offer to the public,” detailed Luna. With the hope that the documentary could have an important bullfight in Mexico, the friends and also associates will continue in search of this public who is ready to defend big projects since it it was In the hole, that gives a small beam of illusion both to producers and to spectators who little by little start celebrating the efforts. “Before being film makers, we are spectators and and as such we want to see a different cinema; a cinema that challenges us, that celebrates a specific point of view, that should be more demanding with the public, who reflects us on the screen and should leave us thinking,” mentioned Diego. Not happy with the success that Gael has had and his inseparable charolastra, they hope to spread shortly Ambulante for television. “We want more spaces are opened to broadcast not commercial movies and what better than television, which comes up to the most unpublished corner,” Gael indicated. And because its irreverence does not have limits, this pair will include in its repertoire those films that were condemned not to see light. “We are going to show films that were censured directly and indirectly, of controversial characters, and films that speak of censorship. The selection is Commander, Control room, Looking For Fidel and Road To Guantánamo, This film not yet has been classified and Mexico.” Translated from: http://www.univision.com/content/content.jhtml?chid=5&schid=1330&secid=1335&cid=1079659 |
