Gael Garcia and Diego Luna want to promote high-quality
Mexican films and bring filmmakers, artists, musicians
and
the general public together in order
to offer an unconventional film experience from several Latin American
countries. Diego Luna stated that Canana
was created about one year ago, even though they came up with the
idea five
years ago with the need of
documentaries to reach commercial theaters.
Luna admitted he is not only looking to act, but to transcend in the film
production scene. "I produced Solo Dios sabe
and there are other projects on hold. We want to produce and be a vehicle
for directors and writers to tell their stories.
I think this cinema thing must transcend and not stay at a standstill", Luna
explained.
"The company is formed only by young people, with this we want to let you
know the films have something that get
young people hooked. There are documentaries focused on politics, nature,
Mexico and others are not", Luna stated.
