Diego asks for a recount of the votes in Mexico l 8 August 2006

MEXICO – Mexican actor Diego Luna advocated today for a recount vote for vote, since the leftist candidate Andrés Manuel López Obrador has requested it, in the middle of tough election of his country.

Luna clarified that he is not a part of the so-called civil resistance summoned by López Obrador and he even affirmed that “there was no one candidate that will represent a solution,” but he pointed out that it is the most just thing that all the votes are counted for the peace of the people. “I want a recount, yes, I believe that the country deserves it. There are millions of Mexicans demanding it and that should be sufficient,” Luna said to a column with his signature published in Reforma newspaper.

Although his opinion arises three days after the Federal Electoral Court determined that they would only recount approximately 9% of the boxes where it’s believed that there might be inconsistencies, he said that he was out of Mexico filming a movie. “Please gentlemen, if there is an error in the ballots that are open, one aloe, invest this time and make an effort for the good of IFE (Federal Electoral Institute), for the good of all, so that we can believe that there is democracy in Mexico,” Diego indicated.
