Canana will produce Without a Name l 3 December 2007
Canana, the company created by Gael García and Diego Luna, will produce Without a Name, a film that tackles the problems of immigrants.
Canana has already started filming it’s next project: a story about the challanges and problems that Central Americans face during their way through Mexico to come to the United States.
The film, titled Without a Name, began filming in the State of Morelos, en the center of the country, and it will continue to the coastal state of Veracruz and Chiapas, boarding Guatemala. The project is the first work by Cary Fukunaga, an American-Japanese filmmaker who has already made the short films Victory for Chinese and Kofi.
The principal actors will be a Paulina Gaytán (Trade) and the child Christian Ferrer. Pablo Cruz, the third founding member of Canana, said that they decided to present the conflict on the Mexican border “where the immigration authorities are worse than the gringos.”
The movie will be coproduced by the American company Focus. Cruz added that “this movie is of few resources, like a Mexican movie is filmed, 100%,” which is a part of the philosophy of Canana. They hope that Without a Name will come to movie theatres by the end of next year.

La compañía Canana, creada por Gael García y Diego Luna, produce Sin nombre, cinta que aborda la problemática de los inmigrantes.
Canana ya comenzó a rodar su próximo proyecto: una historia sobre los retos y problemas que enfrentan los centro-americanos durante su paso por México para llegar a los Estados Unidos.
La cinta, titulada Sin nombre, se comenzó a filmar en el estado de Morelos, en el centro del país, y seguirá en el estado costeño de Veracruz y Chiapas, fronterizo con Guatemala. El proyecto es la ópera prima de Cary Fukunaga, un cineasta estadounidense-japonés que ya ha realizado los cortometrajes Victoria para chino y Kofi.
Los actores principales serán Paulina Gaytán (Trade) y el niño Christian Ferrer. Pablo Cruz, tercer miembro fundador de Canana, dijo que decidieron presentar el conflicto en las fronteras mexicanas "donde la migra (policía migratoria) es peor que la gringa".
El filme será coproducido por la empresa estadounidense Focus. Cruz añadió que "esta película es de pocos recursos, es como si se estuviera filmando una película mexicana, ciento por ciento” lo que es parte de la filosofía de Canana. Se espera que Sin nombre llegue a las salas de cine comerciales a finales del próximo año.
