For Diego Luna it is a “gift” to act together with Gael García in the movie “Rudo y cursi” which is procuced by Alfonso Cuarón. “Fame has never really interested me. I’m more interested in telling good stories and if the result is that I become famous, than I welcome the fame. But this does not mean I have to take my feet off the ground,” assured Diego Luna. The actor will be in Tijuana on February 20th with the play “Festen”, that deals with black humor the dark past of a family. The cast is composed of José María Yazpik, Diana Bracho and Mónica Dionne, those who also offer an excellent histrionic "banquet". Via the telephone from the Mexico City, Luna commented on each of the advantages of taking part in this play and how has it supported his feet on the ground. What did you find special in this play so that you were accepting to take part in it? Diego: I believe that all people, regardless of their sex, identify fully with each of the characters. This was one of the principal reasons that motivated me to stage it. It is easy for you to identify (in “Festen”) a friend or a relative: the play captures what could happen in any family when a celebration exists! And with alcohol it raises of tone everything! (he laughs). For the wine transforms the situation and it can even become chaotic, because alcohol draws many things out of you that you have kept internally. The character that you play, how much does he look like you in the real life? Diego: He looks nothing like me! He is a character, as you say, and nothing more. Perhaps he looks like or I identify him with some of my friend (he laughs). I am very interested in good projects, and always the character to be interpreted (in every play or movie) I like it a lot and it wins my love … if not, it would not do it. Would you like to produce any work of theater in the future?
Diego: None in particular, but in the same way it interests me very
much to produce cinema. I would also like to tackle theatre as a
producer. Certainly to surround myself with marvelous actors like
those who accompany me in “Festen”. Imagine working with Gael García
(in theater)! That would be something very beautiful. He is a great
partner and friend whom I have a great affection for. With regard to the new movie “Rudo y cursi” (Rough and Pretentious), in which you will couple with Gael García and that Alfonso Cuarón produces, how can you move forward? Diego: Alfonso Cuarón is undoubtedly one of the best film directors in the world, and to work with him is going to be a real warm welcome... now imagine to act along with Gael again, then it has to be a double warm welcome (he laughs)! You are known worldwide, how do you keep your feet on the ground?
Diego: I have never been really interested in fame. It interests me
more to tell good stories and if as a consequence I become famous,
then welcome fame. But this does not have to change anything, nor
take my feet off the ground. Diego: I'm waiting for all of them so that they enjoy greatly in this most entertaining play of black humor... I have full confidence that they are going to have a whale of a time. Translated from: http://www.frontera.info/EdicionEnLinea/Notas/Entretenimiento/06022007/220538.aspx |
