A Weekend with Diego Luna

We caught the future dad in full football [soccer] action, at the tacos of The Villamelón with his wife Camila, and filming his next movie.

Passion for Football [Soccer]

Diego came to the grounds of a soccer league at the south of the city shortly before nine in the morning. All the players of the team arrived on time, warmed up and came out to the field. Among the members is Oswaldo Benavides, Diego's old friend, who started the match. Luna, on the other hand, had his opportunity as a forward up until the second half. Two hours later, the team of actors celebrated their victory of three goals to zero.

Camila’s Cravings

The day after the soccer game we find Diego Luna and Camila Sodi at The Villamelón taco bar, a traditional place situated along side the Plaza de Toros [bull ring] of Mexico, whose specialties are tacos campechanos that have long pork sausage, cured meat and

chicharrón [which can be either fried pork skin or blackened meat]. There we notice that Camila, about six months pregnant, seems most beautiful and content.

They ate standing up, without a worry in the world. They stayed almost an hour and then they went to Starbucks, where Camila asked for a Café Americano and took advantage of buying the Sunday newspaper. Then the couple, which has been married for two months, returned to their home.

In the evening they went to the City Theatre in the Historic Center to see their friend Gael Garcia’s play Together. They arrived at the back door so that nobody would bother them. At the exit, they came across dozens of photographers, who crowded together to catch them.

Diego’s New Movie

The future father came to the filming of the movie Sólo quiero caminar (I Only Want to Walk), where he shares credits with Victoria Abril, José Maria Yazpik and Elena Anaya. The film’s director, Agustín Díaz Yanes, and the cast were in Mexico for eight weeks shooting several scenes.

The actors of the full-length film also gave a press conference in the Lebanese Club, south of Mexico City. Diego Luna was very kind with the media that asked him about his professional projects. To those that questioned him about his private life he answered, “There is a time for everything, I am thankful to those that ask me about my new life and the fact that I will be a dad soon, but out of consideration for all those here, it is better that we talk about the movie.”

In a few days Diego will travel to Spain to film the final scenes of Sólo quiero caminar, a production that will be in theatres the middle of next year.
